Obituary
JOHNSON, Valerie
Peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2025, in her 75th year, Valerie passed away at Victoria Hospital, London.
Beloved wife of Ivan Johnson for 45 years. Loving mother of Shawn (Nancy), Lance, Tonya (Peter), Kyra (Graham), and Kale (Kaela). Proud grandmother of Lance, Tristain, Jacob, Ethan, Kaiden, Siena, Hoyt, India, Lochlan, Nola, and James. Dear sister of Glenda, Tim, Roberta, Jocelyn and Lori. Predeceased by her siblings; Richard, Patricia, and Gordon. Valerie will be remembered by many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Valerie was passionate about sewing and upholstery, always creating with care and creativity. An active spirit, she enjoyed going to the gym and swimming, embracing each day with energy. But more than anything, she deeply loved her husband and treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren-those times brought her the greatest joy and fulfillment.
Cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Valerie may be made to the Alzheimers Society Southwest Partners or to MS Canada. A celebration of Valerie’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted with A. Millard George Funeral Home, 519-433-5184. I am deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Valerie was a truly remarkable mother, and I will always remember the beautiful example she and Ivan set—both as loving partners and devoted parents. Their warmth and unity left a lasting impression on me. My heart goes out to all of you during this difficult time. You have my deepest sympathy.
Wow, we’re shocked and deeply saddened. Our heartfelt and deep condolences to Ivan, Kale, Tonya, Kyra, Shawn, Lance and your entire family. Val was a wonderful woman and will surely be greatly missed. Thank you for everything you’ve meant to my family. Love Justin, Julie and Roman Walls
I am so sorry to hear of dear Valerie’s death. She was a beautifully spirited person. It was such a pleasure to meet her and Mrs Hanson walking in Springbank Park and catching up on her family. While many years ago now Valerie’s generous spirit was always welcoming. My sincere condolences to your family.
Val,
While we haven’t seen eachother in more than a while, memories of you from my childhood will never fade away. You were the coolest of moms, always so supportive and loving. You will be missed, by those dearest to you and by everyone who was so lucky to have you in their corner.
Rest easy.
Xox
Veronica.
Dearest Val,
I’m still in shock that you are gone. You were a second mother to us misfits in Kale’s friend group. Even after we finished school, you supported us when my father suddenly found himself alone and then again when you helped prepare me and Emiko for the time when we would lose him.
We shared many great times as well: it feels like only yesterday that you were sewing the hem of Emiko’s wedding dress and celebrating her pregnancy with us!
I will miss your vibrant smile, generosity, and candor. You were an inspiration to me, and I hope that you are at peace.
To Val’s family and loved ones, please accept my condolences.
Joe, my husband and myself were devastated to hear of the passing of Val.
As next-door neighbors, she was influential in early years spending summers, creating school like environments for Jocelyn and myself.
Valerie remained in my life, in spite of differences in our path. In London, we connected through her sewing prowess, and yes there was a garage sale in there too! We connected many times always with an hour long conversation, sharing her humor, knowledge and humility. Of course Ivan was ever present and formed a close bond with my husband Joe.
I cannot imagine the empty space created by Val’s loss for her family and the larger community around her.
She left us with the legacy of how to live live fully. Every day every moment with every person
My deepest sympathies to the family, my previous next-door neighbors… May the memories and richness of Val’s life offer you peace knowing of a life well lived
Please connect if in London.
What a wonderful lady . Always busy , laughing , enjoying life, a super grandma to many. A cook supreme , i remember fondly the shortbread cookies i was nicking from the freezer.
My heartfelt sympathies to kyra and family.
Dear Ivan and Family:
Please accept our deep condolences. Valerie had a loving heart for all that knew her and will be missed! Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
I had spoken to Val many times at the Gym we both attended over the last few years. She was always telling stories of her Children and Grandchildren to me. She had a heart of Gold and her presence warmed the souls of the people that were around her. She cared so deeply for her family and Friends. I will miss our exchange of stories with each other her smile and her zest for life! I can just see her still in my mind on a machine at the Gym giving it her All which I’m sure she did in a lot of aspects in her life and everyone she touched over the years. You will be so missed Val
My condolences to the family
